I don’t think it would be going to far out on a limb to say that Killzone 2 is the most anticipated game of the first few months of 2009. Who can forget the highly controversial E3 trailer that Sony pushed out a few years ago that said it was in game footage which we later found out to be CGI. The big question since this big debacle was if Guerilla Games would be able to live up to the heavy hype surround Killzone 2.
With the Playstation 3 having a less then stellar 2008, they really need 2009 to start off with a bang. Killzone for the Playstation 2 was once touted as a possible Halo killer but it was anything but that. Killzone 2 on the other hand actually looks like it might have a better chance to succeed then the original. It seems like Guerilla Games has spent a lot of time really immersing the player in a very cinematic experience. From what I have seen thus far Guerilla has gone to great lengths to really add every detail to the experience you could possibly think of. Fans of past Killzone titles will feel right at home with Killzone 2 but new fans should be able to pick it up and catch up to the experience relatively easily.
Killzone 2 seems to be just as much about multiplayer as it is single player with eight maps, and up to sixty four player multiplayer. Guerilla Games has gone all out in providing the player with plenty of options and a host of community options. With PSN not being the online powerhouse of Xbox Live it seems as though Guerilla Games has given you all the options you could want from the experience.
From my experience with some of the online multiplayer I can easily say that if things shape up the way they looked like they were this could be one of the best games of the first half of 2009.
