Comparing the Best Adventure-themed Game Titles of 2017

Although adventure gaming is not going as strong as it did in the early 1990s, adventure-themed gaming remains one of the most popular staples of the video gaming industry, for gamers of all types. Whether you’re a PS4 fanboy or girl, or you like to have a flutter while enjoying the gameplay at an online casino, you'll want to check out the top three adventure-themed gaming titles in 2017 available online and on PS4.

Book of Dead – Play’n GO
The Book of Dead online slot game is heavily influenced by Ancient Egyptian history, with the story based on the character of Rich Wild and his tales around the pyramids. It’s become a very popular video slot with its engaging gameplay and visuals combined with its 10 paylines and a chance to win a jackpot of up to £5,000.

The Evil Within 2 – Tango Gameworks
This heart-stopping survival game was released last month and has already caused a stir within the PS4 community. With around 20 hours of gameplay time, developers, Tango Gameworks take you on an epic ordeal that’s tense and exhilarating in equal measure. Playing protagonist Sebastian Castellanos, you must rescue his daughter who was previously considered dead from STEM – Tango Gameworks’ very own version of the Matrix – it’s up to you to survive in the evil world around you in the quest to find your daughter.

Assassin’s Creed Origins – Ubisoft
Ubisoft’s successor to Assassin’s Creed Syndicate was released just a couple of weeks ago and has already been very well received by gaming critics; labeling it a considerable return to form for the franchise. It has already sold twice as fast as the previous title, such was the anticipation regarding this release. There’s no doubt that the franchise has found its way once again after a barren spell, with a spectacular recreation of the Ancient Egyptian world greeting us with arguably the finest setting the franchise has ever delivered. The protagonist – or Assassin – in this version is Bayek, whose multi-faceted personality is as engaging as the likes of Edward Kenway and Ezio Auditore.

Tower Quest – Play’n GO
Another much-loved adventure video slot developed by  Play’n  GO, Tower Quest offers fantastic animations and a slick overall presentation. This standard five-reel slot has a wide range of features to quickly escalate the action, with the liquid bottles used to indicate the level of features and bonuses available after each spin.

Observer – Bloober Team
Bloober Team transports us to the year of 2084 as protagonist Daniel Lazarski, an elite neural detective regarded as an "observer", whose profession it is to tap into suspects’ brains and psyches. In order to obtain the necessary evidence, Daniel must experience his suspects’ darkest fears and experiences before facing his own fear head-on. There is a wonderful depth to this storyline which is far superior to many other adventure-genre titles developed by far bigger studios. Its depiction of a dystopian society manipulated by an untouchable corporation is fascinating and disturbing in equal measure.

Game of Thrones – Microgaming
Followers of the hit TV show scrambled to Microgaming online casinos to play this 243-way video slot, where players can navigate their way via all seven kingdoms of Westeros. The game is made even more epic thanks to its heart-thumping music and visuals, along with an exciting bonus feature.

Although sales of adventure-themed video games in the United States were at just 7.8% in 2016, there’s no doubt there is a loyal band of gamers who will always enjoy the fantastical nature of being transported into other worlds, regardless of the gaming platform. We’re hopeful that 2018 will keep up its end of the bargain by providing us with more enchanting worlds to explore!
