Although already a month in the year 2011 we thought it would be great to look at what the road ahead appears to be and from what we can see it looks pretty spectacular. With how great of year we just had, it might come as surprise how many amazing titles we have to look forward to next year. Keep in mind this list is only of those that we do know about, there are of course going to be some surprises to come along the way as well. Enjoy a look into what appears to be an amazing 2011.
1. Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception (PS3)
After two blockbuster outings, Naughty Dog is back at it again and this time our favorite adventurer Nathan Drake is treasure hunting in the middle of the desert. Not much is yet known about the upcoming Uncharted game other then it will be a key staple of the PS3 Holiday lineup for 2011.
2. inFamous 2 (PS3)
The original infamous was not a perfect game by any stretch but it had all of the makings for one. inFamous 2 promises more of the same open world elements while improving on some of the nagging issues that held back the original.
3. Crysis 2 (PC, 360, PS3)
The first Cysis game coming to consoles has had fans buzzing for months now. There is no doubt that if Cysis 2 delivers on even half of the promises that have been shown off so far, it should be quite the first person shooter.
4. The Last Guardian (PS3)
If I was to pick one game on the list that we really don't know much about it would be The Last Guardian. We do know that the game is developed by Team Ico most known for developing The Shadow of the Colossus for the Playstation 2. The Last Guardian whatever it turns out to be should be an exciting adventure and one that comes at a time where the PS3 could really use a big blockbuster hit.
5. Batman: Arkham City (PC, 360, PS3)
I know I am not the only one that was absolutely shocked by the high quality of Batman: Arkham Asylum. Batman games before that release had been bad and I think most of us figured Arkham Asylum would follow the suit. The upcoming sequel could be one of the most exciting games of 2011.
6. Mass Effect 3 (PC, 360, PS3)
For many Mass Effect 2 was the game of the year for 2010, and if not the GOTY, it was in the conversation. BioWare is back at it again with the third installment of the third person action RPG that promises to continue the amazing story from the Mass Effect universe while continuing to improve the action. This should be one heck of an adventure.
7. Fight Night Champion (360, PS3)
Fight Night Round 3 was one of those titles that really brought in the “next generation” of consoles. Round 4 was just a mild step forward for the series. Now EA looks like there back in the ring and mean business with their first ever story mode in their boxing franchise. Fight Night Champion has the opportunity to capture the hearts of boxing fans ever.
8. LA Noire (360, PS3)
Rockstar has had quite a hot hand in recent years, and all signs are pointing to a similar outcome in 2011. One of the titles that may help make Rockstars year even sweeter is LA Noire a crime solving game set in the late 1940’s Los Angeles. The game looks like it has the opportunity to provide a new and interesting approach to solving murder mysteries.
9. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Wii)
It’s probably no surprise that a Zelda title would make the top upcoming games for 2011. Skyward Sword, which was shown off at 2010’s E3 event, promised to be quite the Zelda game. Although we don’t know a ton about the story that goes along with Skyward Sword we do know that the game uses the Motion Plus controls and looks to be quite the motion controlling adventure game.
10. Diablo 3 (PC)
Although Diablo 3 is on the list for most anticipated games for 2011, that in no way guarantees that Diablo 3 will be actually released in 2011. Blizzard is notorious for delaying games until they are absolutely perfect, and this could very well be the fait for Diablo 3. If we are blessed with a new Diablo game it very well could be on the GOTY list for 2011.
11. Gears of War 3 (360)
Microsoft appears to be putting a lot of their eggs in the Gears of War basket, as it appears to be the front-runner of there holiday lineup for 2011. The first two Gears of War titles were some of the best cover based third person shooters of our time and it should be interesting to see how Epic Games improves their franchise its third outing.
Notable Mentions: Nintendo 3DS Releases, Killzone 3, SOCOM 4, Sorcery, Child of Eden, Assassins Creed (Unknown Title), Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (Unknown Title), Star Wars: Kinect, and Dead Space 2.
