Top 3 Games For 2005 - PlayStation 2

Having overtaken the Walkman as Sony's most popular brand, the PlayStation 2 has grown from strength to strength. Well known for popular genre exclusives like the Final Fantasy and Sly Cooper series, the PS2 has continued it stranglehold at the top, with plenty of support from in-house studios and third party developers.

#3 SOCOM 3: U.S. Navy SEALs
Publisher: SCEA | Developer: Zipper Interactive | Genre: Shooter
SOCOM 3: U.S. Navy SEALs
SOCOM has been one of the many series that has really driven the Playstation 2 throughout its long history. SOCOM III is one of those games that take the series to whole new levels in which they never have been before. SOCOM III makes the single player experience a whole lot more enjoyable, improves the multiplayer mode, and added a more expansive environment for good measure. All this adds to a fantastic online shooter for the PS2.

#2 Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves
Publisher: SCEA | Developer: Sucker Punch | Genre: Platform
Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves
Most of you know that I am a huge Sly Cooper fan, and I have to say even if I wasn't a fan, Sly 3 would have really impressed me, and this is because of all the creativity that went into this game. When I look at Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves, I see a game that really just continues a very successful series with the same great platforming punch, with a whole lot more depth and just another extremely engaging story.

#1 Shadow of the Colossus
Publisher: SCEA | Developer: SCEI | Genre: Adventure
Shadow of the Colossus
I am huge on games that try to differentiate themselves from the rest of the pack, whether with new ideas, new innovations, or anything that tries to put their own unique personality on the game world. This is exactly what the game Shadow of the Colossus did when it came out as a game that had 16 boss fights and nothing else. This idea may not sound great, but when you check out the colossi you have to take on, Shadow of Colossus was easily the best game of 2005 for the Playstation 2.

Worthy Mentions: God of War, Guitar Hero and Dragon Quest VIII
