Top 3 Games For 2005 - Xbox
| Attempting to inject a bit of competition into the console wars, Microsoft came in, flexing its massive financial muscle and released the Xbox to the masses. Although the most powerful of the current-gen consoles, the Xbox has failed to seriously challenge the PS2. Granted Halo and Project Gotham Racing were runaway successes, but the Xbox has not done well in genres others than FPS and racing. |
| #3 Half-Life 2 Publisher: VU Games | Developer: Valve Software | Genre: FPS | |
![]() | Although I don't do Game of the Year awards for the PC, I have to say if I had to pick one for 2004, it would have been Half-Life 2. Now this epic FPS, which brought some of the most amazing visuals and physics to the FPS realm, has made its way to the Xbox. Although it is short from the lack of multiplayer, it is still an amazing accomplishment for Valve to bring such a beautiful game and to make it work so smoothly on the Xbox. |
| #2 Forza Motorsport Publisher: Microsoft | Developer: Microsoft | Genre: Racing | |
![]() | Racing games have always been a popular choice for any console, and the Xbox has had nothing to even come close to matching the Playstation's legendary Gran Turismo series. Out comes Forza Motorsports, which combines beautiful visuals with just pure simulation racing. This game is not for the weak of heart, and if you have the patience, than you will love Forza Motorsports online and offline. |
| #1 Jade Empire Publisher: Microsoft | Developer: BioWare | Genre: RPG | |
![]() | Although this game was received with mixed reactions, when I look at Jade Empire, I see a game that was done absolutely right. This may not have been the absolute best game of 2005, but it was one that I just truly found myself involved in. I was just amazed with how well the game combined a great storyline with such engaging combat and such beautiful visuals. The game may not be for everyone, but in my opinion Jade Empire was by far the best game the Xbox had, and there was just no doubt about it. |
Worthy Mentions: Ninja Gaiden Black, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30
