In the last three weeks we here at Darkstation have been doing our best predicting what is to come from E3 in 2012. Now we are only one week away from the big event and in our last week of predictions. Today we are going to be looking at the second part where we predict what the third parties will be showing of at E3 2012.
It’s (not) Halo (not) 4! Activision and Bungie unveil Destiny – by Jonathan Miley
Given the recent craziness going on with Activision and West and Zampella, I think Activision is going to do everything it can this E3 to drum up some good will from gamers. Namely, finally start talking about that Bungie game they contracted just before everything hit the fan with Infinity Ward. Also, because documentation about that Bungie game has recently been made public, it seems like the only logical thing to do would be to unveil.
But more specifically than it just being unveiled, I think we’re going to see some marked similarities between the game known only as Destiny and Halo 4, which 343 Industries is developing. Both of which, I think will be big part of E3 this year.
Capcom Finally Figures Out What to Do With Mega Man, by Hiram Mojica
Ever since Keiji Inafune left Capcom, the house that Mega Man built has been doing nothing but floundering around with the beloved license. Really, the best thing they’ve done with the license has been putting fat box-art Mega Man into Street Figher X Tekken. As far as I know, ever since they canned Mega Man Legends 3, that’s the last we’ve seen of a dedicated Mega Man game. The fact that there’s not even some kind of knock-off Mega Man compilation going on so far is alarming.
It ends now. Capcom is going to finally come out and announce something that they’re doing with the Blue Bomber. I don’t know what it’s going to be, but I’m going to say something crazy and suggest either a reborn Mega Man Legends 3, a Mega Man 11 (for every platform), or some sort of, I don’t know, Mega Man Prime. While I’m making predictions, I’m also going to say these two last things for Capcom: Darkstalkers gets a new entry, and more Phoenix Wright is coming to America.
Stealing Cars and Skyhooks to Steal the Show, by Ashley Chittock
There’s plenty of AAA titles coming from the biggest companies this year, but the two games I predict are going to get the biggest announcements are Grand Theft Auto V and Bioshock Infinite. With extended segments of gameplay already demoed for the industry press, 2K are almost certain to have some sort of playable version of the Infinite at E3 this year. As for GTAV, I’m predicting the announcement of a handheld version, and not just a spinoff - a fully blown GTAV for PS Vita.
Ubisoft Bought the Clancy License for a Reason, you know - by Jonathan Miley
There are two obvious games that Ubisoft will be showing off at E3: Far Cry 3 and Assassins Creed 3. But I think hope that they don’t stop there. With Ghost Recon’s recent release, I think Ubisoft is going to take the time to show off its two other Tom Clancy titles that have been eerily silent as of late, Rainbow Six Patriots and Splinter Cell Retribution. Prepare for a whole lot of near-future espionage and counter-terrorism.
And while they’re at it, maybe they’ll announce the sequel to the 2008 Prince of Persia game. I can dream, right?
Well that's it. That's all the predictions we have for E3 2012. Make sure to check back next week when we cover E3 2012. Until then let us know what you think of our predictions and we will see you back here for E3 2012 coverage next week.
