Top 3 PlayStation 2 Games For 2003

A new year in now upon us, and its time we look back on the great games that have thrilled gamers worldwide. We start off with the Top 3 games for the Sony PlayStation 2 console for 2002, as picked by our Editor Joel Szerlip.

#3 Kingdom Hearts
Publisher: Square | Developer: Square | Genre: RPG
The Final Fantasy series has really always been one of the top RPG's around since the NES. So when you combine the characters from Final Fantasy with Disney characters what did you expect? So it came as no surprise to me that I was immediately glued to my television set not wanting to put the game down. The game's graphics were impressive, and the gameplay was superb. The storyline is one that will always keep you interested throughout the whole games experience. The best part of the game is it is far from being short, it will last you a good fourty hours of pure gaming fun!
#2 Sly Cooper And The Thievius Racconnus
Publisher: SCEA | Developer: Sucker Punch | Genre: Platform
SCEA published two excellent platform titles this year, including Ratchet and Clank and Sly Cooper. Both combined great gameplay and graphics but Sly Cooper really stood out over Ratchet. This is one of those games that does an excellent job of the art of cel shading perfectly. The game takes the look of a Saturday morning cartoon and it is just gorgeous. To go along with the graphics comes some of the best platforming action I have seen since Super Mario World. The game is just so addicting it is almost impossible not to get addicted to. Although the game is rather short this is one of those games that you could definitely go back and play over and over again and still have the same amount of fun you had the first time.
#1 Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
Publisher: Rockstar Games | Developer: Rockstar Games | Genre: Action
Although this time last year I was not with DarkStation my game of the year pick for the PS2 went to Grand Theft Auto 3. When Grand Theft Auto Vice City was first announced there was a lot of skepticism from a lot of us, on how Vice City could live up to the glory of GTA3? Well it really just put GTA3 to rest and the Grand Theft Auto series has taken my PS2 game of the year slot for two years in a row. Vice City took everything good in the GTA3 series kept that, and upgraded all the few problems that haunted GTA3. The game does feel identical to its predecessor, but the graphics in Vice City have been much improved. With the addition of plenty of new vehicles, and features and a pretty long gaming experience this is easily the top PS2 game of the year.
