When Microsoft entered the fray into console gaming, many were sceptical of the company's potential to dethrone Sony, but were excited nonetheless. While the game library for the Xbox may not be quite as large as PlayStation 2's, there were noteworthy releases that demand your attention and playing time. #3 Deathrow
Publisher: Ubi Soft | Developer: Southend Interactive | Genre: Sports |

If I had to give the award of best game that no one owns, Deathrow would definitely be my pick. Deathrow combines all the great aspects of several sports, and adds the ability to take out your opponents any way possible. The game is a great game in both single and multiplayer modes. Both modes are just down right addicting, with non-stop action and a lot of strategy. This is not a game for the young, but more for the older crowd, which makes this a fun part game. The game does not only play well but the graphics are also just very impressive, with great character models, and interesting arenas. This is one of those games with just non-stop pure fun action, that doesn't get old. |

#2 MechAssault
Publisher: Microsoft | Developer: Day 1 | Genre: Action |
|
|
With the Xbox Live service being launched there were three major titles that were released right around the release of live. Out of the three (MechAssault, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon, Unreal Championship) MechAssault really stood out superior over the rest. The game isn't perfect but out of the Live games available on the market this one really does stand out. The game offers non-stop action, and with the actions comes some beautiful looking graphics. This is definitely the best looking Mech game around, with solid Gameplay and the ability to download future content; this is definitely a game even the casual gamer should pick up. |

#1 Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell
Publisher: Ubi Soft | Developer: Ubi Soft | Genre: Action |
|

Splinter Cell was just really one of those games that you knew was going to be good. Since the first few images and movies were first revealed to the public the game has really been one of the most anticipated titles of the year. The game is probably more known about its stunning graphics rather then its Gameplay, but the Gameplay is in fact is as impressive as the graphics. This is a stealth action game that actually does an excellent job of really giving the game a sneaky feel. The game does an excellent job of taking advantage of the Xbox's hardware, and is without a doubt the best looking game of the year. The game also flows very nice with a heavy dose of strategy and frustration. With the ability to download more levels later on this game is definitely my pick for the Xbox game of the year. |
