Are you among the millions who have been playing Microsoft's smash hit Halo 2? I know I have been, but one essential element that you need for a great online experience is a decent headset. Plantronics has had their fair share of headsets, but there latest was created just for those of us Halo 2 fans. So is this headset just a big gimmick or is there more firepower behind this headset then it first gives off?

Setup

For most headsets it is as easy as putting the band over your head and you're good to go. Well, with the GameCom Halo 2 Edition you don't even have a band - this is a very small unit that has to be carefully placed in your ear. Well I guess you could jam it in, but that might hurt, so I would recommend the first part. Besides that, plug it in your Xbox Communicator and you're set!

Play Testing

Right away, you will see that the GameCom Halo 2 Edition is a very flashy product that may look like one of the best headsets on the market. The unit has a light green finish that does a nice job of going with the whole Halo theme by giving us a very nice looking product.

Not only does this product look nice but it is extremely comfortable. At first I was very skeptical on this unit being as small as it is, but I must say I am quite happy to say that this headset is actually quite comfortable because of its light weight and solid construction. I must say that the headset was constructed in a very nice manner to allow your ear to nicely fit into the headset.

So does this headset live up to the test in actual usability? After testing this headset with Halo 2, of course, I must say that the game lived up to all of the hype as the game, as this is by far the most comfortable headset over a long period of time. I would have to say this headset isn't as great when you're just playing the games for a few minutes but really shines when you are playing for longer periods of time.

From my experiences with this headset the sound has really been quite superb giving some of the best sound I have seen on an Xbox Live headset yet. Not only that but the headset seems to also be one of the clearest when speaking into it as well, as it seems to block out most of the outside noise in the room. From testing this headset the only issue I have had with it, was that it may be a little to small and that keeping it in one piece could be a problem as time progresses. I must say though for as small is, it still remains a very comfortable and forms perfectly for all different sized ears.

Overall: 9.0

The GameCom Halo 2 edition is a bit pricey but it makes up for it, with a very solid unit that combines both comfort and clarity that I have yet to see in any other headset. If you have the money, this unit is worth the price tag.
