Disney Has Shutdown LucasArts

Jon April 3, 2013 News 1 Comment

Disney announced today that they have shutdown LucasArts along with laying off the studio’s staff and canceling current projects which include Star Wars 1313 and Star Wars: First Assault. Kotaku reports that around 150 people were laid off due to the closure. Disney had acquired LucasArts last September and rumors had been swirling about what the team was going to be used for.

Star Wars 1313 debuted at E3 2012 where the stunning graphics and Uncharted-esque gameplay became the talk of the show. Star Wars: First Assault was slated to be a downloadable game. LucasArts has been around since May of 1982 and has been responsible for some major titles in the gaming world. We at DarkStation are saddened by the news and wish everyone who worked for LucasArts the best of luck.

About The Author

Hey there, I'm Jon and I like playing and writing about video games. Ever since I read my first issue of Gamepro I've been hooked on reading the latest news and reviews and keeping up with anything and everything that the gaming world has to offer. If it's popular, interesting, different, strange, absolute rubbish, or recommended by someone at random I'll most likely play it. For me it's about appreciating what the developers have created and enjoying video games for the awesome experiences that they offer.
