Resident Evil 6 Archive and Anthology Editions Spread that RE Love

Rom June 11, 2012 News, Playstation 3, Xbox 360 3 Comments

Do you love Resident Evil as a series, but lament the fact that you have to dust off older consoles to play them all? Or maybe you’re just a recent fan who came in at 5 but never really got a chance to play the previous entries into the series. The good news for you, then, is that for the release of Resident Evil 6, Capcom is dusting off those old source codes (coding collects dust, right?) and are slapping the old games in with Resident Evil 6 when the game comes out on October 2.

The bad news, though, is that these versions are actually divided by console. PlayStation 3 fans get one compilation set, while 360 users get another. Let me break this down for you in dynamic bullet-point form.

Xbox 360 Resident Evil 6 Archives:

  • Resident Evil 6
  • Resident Evil 5 Gold
  • Resident Evil 4 HD
  • Resident Evil: Code Veronica X HD
  • Resident Evil: Degeneration (the CGI movie that I hear isn’t so great)

PlayStation 3 Resident Evil 6 Anthology

  • Resident Evil 6
  • Resident Evil 5 Gold
  • Resident Evil 4 HD
  • Resident Evil 3 Nemesis
  • Resident Evil 2
  • Resident Evil: Director’s Cut

So… I don’t know about you, but I think the PS3 has a better deal there, if I may editorialize a little. Especially because both of these editions will retail at a mere $89.99, which is pretty ridiculous, since you’re getting 3 extra games on 360 and 5 extra on the PS3 for just $30 more. If more companies did this instead of an art booklet, we’d be forcing them to take our money instead of just not buying their expensive set. It would be better to just buy a PS3 then! That is, if you can take the fact that those old games are kinda bad and control like tanks made of molasses. So for new fans and old, it’s time to find out if you’re going to be able to stomach those old controls after modern games have made it all so much easier! We’ll find out when these editions come out, as I said, October 2nd.

I've been playing games since I was super young, but I really started to enjoy them when I got my first Game Boy. I'm all for games getting wider recognition and helping advance dialogue around games. Thanks for reading!

    “tanks made of molasses”

Splitting the collections by console? That’s…kind of lame.

And the PS3 has a waaay better collection if you’re into that sort of thing.
