Zynga Launches Own Social Gaming Site

Allen March 6, 2012 News, PC No Comments

Zynga, purveyors of social media games and biggest admirer of other people’s games, has announced the launch of Zynga.com, an online platform that gives users access to popular Zynga games without having to go to Facebook. Furthermore, the Zynga site “will let players discover and play social games created by third party game developers. These Platform partners will be able to reach new audiences and make their games even more social.” Right now, there are only five titles to play on Zynga’s new site – CastleVille, Words With Friends, CityVille, Hidden Chronicles, and Zynga Poker – but this list is expected to grow as the company develops their platform.

Apart from being the next logical step for Zynga as they continue to build their social gaming empire, the development of the platform is an obvious attempt for the company to break away from Facebook, the site that put them on the map. Despite this, Zynga.com is completely integrated with Facebook, allowing people to log into their IDs – because there is nothing worse than forcing people to lose all their progress by having to create an entirely new account. Zynga, love ‘em or hate ‘em, has made a name for itself when it comes to easily produced online gaming. It’ll be interesting to see where they go from here and how quickly their new site will take off.
