Overview

I could tell you all about how great the story is. I could tell you everything about the game. But I'm not going to, because I feel everyone should experience Lunar 2 on their own. If you have never played Lunar 2 on any other system consider yourself lucky. Mainly because you'll be able to see a lot of the Lunar SSSC characters return and be surprised by it. I won't tell you who, but you'll flip when you see one in particular. I will tell you that these characters are just as good as the original Lunar's characters. Hiro is just as likeable as Alex, while Lucia is fantastic. My personal favorites are Ronfar and Jean and Lemina and Hiro and Lucia and Ruby, who is basically a female nall and...well all of the characters to make it short . If you're willing to put some extra time in Lunar 2, you'll be able to tie up a lot of the loose ends from Lunar SSSC, and Lunar 2. Plus you can find out what happened between the two games.

The epilogue at the end of Lunar 2 is fantastic as well. It easily ads 5 to 8 hours of gameplay if you choose to explore everything or you could just fly by and pass the epilogue in less than hour. I wouldn't recommend doing that.

Gameplay

The gameplay runs on the same engine as Lunar:SSSC. In other words, you gain all your party's magic and moves from gaining exp, and not from equipping a item or hatching an egg. As you can tell, I highly enjoyed the gameplay aspect of Lunar Silver Star Story Complete and Lunar 2 Eternal Blue. It's simple to understand and hard to master, but overall fun to use, which is why I think it's one of the best battle engines ever created.

The menus have been totally redesigned and completely fresh looking, which makes Lunar 2 easier on the eyes since everything is clearer and brighter to view.

Graphics

Before I begin, I'd like to say that the packaging of Lunar 2 is fantastic. You get a life size replica of Lucia's pendent, a making of Lunar 2 CD, a soundtrack of Lunar 2 and a 100 plus page leatherette hardbound art book/instruction manual, and a lot of mini standees of the characters (!).

Now that that's done lets move on. The gameplay graphics have been upgraded since Lunar SSSC. The colors are more vibrant and more crisp looking then previous incarnations of Lunar, but basically still retains the same 2D RPG look and feel most of us have came to love. The world map graphics have also been upgraded to make the world map bigger and better looking. The anime cut scenes are once again perfectly and beautifully done to mix the best of the old school with the new school.

The voice acting is also perfectly cast, just like Lunar one's cast. All the voices are the way they should be, never overdone or stupid sounding. I can't come up with a single complaint on the voice acting side.

Fun Factor

Honestly do I even have to write something here this is what Lunar 2 is all about fun. Every side quest and extra of the game is there for the player to have fun and get more out of the story line. And guess what? It succeeds in every instance. The jokes alone make the game fun and funny.

Overall

Overall, Lunar 2 is one the greatest games ever to grace a console. It's fun, simple and has a great replay value. Once you get past the 16-bit gameplay graphics, you're sure to find a lot to like about Lunar 2. I have already begun a new game of Lunar 2 and still go back every now and then to play Lunar SSSC.

Lunar 2 has a fantastic story great voice acting, beautiful anime cut scenes and a great cast of characters, and much more to offer. 60 bucks is the average price but its definitely worth it considering all the extras. You should buy this game if you have a heart beat, or like games with a great story line, fantastic character development and beautiful anime cut scenes. You should not buy this game if you can't get past 2D game play graphics.
