Overview

Well, Uka-uka and Dr. Neo Cortex are at it again. Crash and and is again summoned to do save the universe in a variety of frantic multiplayer games. The storyline is simple and irrelevant to games of this genre, so let's just skip to the best parts.

Gameplay

There are a variety of modes to be played in Crash Bash, and being a party game (something along the lines of Mario Party), you don't need a split screen to enjoy a 4 player romp. All the action is shared on the main screen, which means more fun for 'quickies'.

First up is the Adventure mode, where you must participate and win 4 different events and beat the level boss to earn access to the next warp room, much like Crash Bandicoot Warped. There's the Jungle Bash, where you pick up crates and hurl them at your enemies. Poy-Poy lovers will love recognise this imediately. There's also a game where you push your opponents down from a block of ice and a game similar to Othello. After finishing the games as champion, you received a trophy. Collect 4 trophies and you open up the boss challenge, which plays much like the bosses in Warped. Defeat him, and open up another warp room that leads to another level.

In the Battle mode, you go head-to-head with 4 other players in a variety of challenging senarios. So, if you're looking for simple, uncomplicated gameplay that promises hours of unadulterated fun, this is the mode for you.

Next up is the Tournament mode. Same minigames as the other modes, but with more dynamic and fun modifications in later stages. For example, in the first stage of Polar Panic, it's just a simple push-your-opponents style. But in the second stage, the iceblock gets smaller and more slippery. These nice variations of the basic minigames are very nice touches, and they add to the total enjoyment of the whole game.

Graphics

Being the first Crash game without the participation of Naughty Dog, it'll be interesting to see how it fares. New developer Eurocomm has taken over the development part, and by the look of things, I'll say that they've done a very good job indead. The graphics are smooth and colourful, as you would aspect from the Crash series. All the famous characters are here - Crash, Neo Cortex, Tiny Tiger and Coco. Even favourite bosses makes an appearance (Papu-Papu and Dr. N-Trophy).
The surroundings have been modelled upon recognisable Crash world, with your favourite locations rendered in fantastic style.

Fun Factor

Without a doubt, Crash Bash is a fun game to play. It's the game where the whole family can join in, not just hardcore gamers. The simple controls, uncomplicated yet very competitive minigames makes it a game that everyone can enjoy for hours and hours. You can just pick this one up, and play straight away. A pure party game.

Overall

Overall, I must say that I welcome this type of game to our beloved console. Developers Eurocom deserves a pat in the back for a superb and very polished party game, a rare treat for PlayStation gamers. Definately recommended for gamers of all ages.
