Overview
This game follows the life of many characters in a single world and eventually intertwines them so the entire story makes sense. If you let one of the characters die, for example, then the rest of story changes based on that decision. This is great, because most RPG's have a 'Game Over' when you die. The storyline is somewhat unclear in the start, but when the plots come together about 2 hours into the game, it is a great feeling to finally have a single plot to follow.
Gameplay
Saga Frontier 2 has a unique battle system where you can either fight a single monster as a 'duel' with one character of your choice from your party, or you can choose to fight the monster as a team. This is nice because each mode has a different system of combat for gamers to master. As far as control, It is very easy to learn (like most RPG's) and is sufficient to the game's needs.
Graphics
Saga Frontier 2 was one of the first RPG's that I played on Playstation (after holding onto my SNES RPG's for as long as possible) and I was very impressed to see the kind of detail that is in this game. It has a wonderful background, great characters, and awesome looking movies. I never thought the graphics mattered in RPG's, but its the little differences like cracks in the rock floors and scales on dragons that make you feel like you are really in the role of the character. The only problem that I can see is the loading time, while brief, is very annoying. Just enough to keep this game at a 9.
Fun Factor
This game has a wonderful way of keeping you hooked on the game. It introduces more than one character at a time, and intertwines them together slowly over time. By leaving off at a certain point on one character (if it gets a little tedious) and going to another character's story, you stay entertained until you have to go back to the previous story. Surely a good tactic that needs to be shown in future RPG's. This makes it a very addictive game usually not seen in RPG's. The only thing holding this game down is the fact that you need to level build like every RPG. This is very tedious and time consuming.
Overall
All in all, I give Saga Frontier 2 a 9/10. It has great graphics, good storyline, and many other unique features that make this RPG stand above the rest. A must for any RPG fan.
