Overview
I have to say that I am a big fan of classic games; in fact I am one that really spends a lot of time going back on my NES and SNES to play some of my classics. However when compilations come out I just sit back and wonder if they are going to be another flop. So many times it feels like developers just rest on the game's previous laurels and don't do enough to give a great emulation on the consoles. Well today we are checking out Capcom Classic Collection Remixed for the PSP, which lets you play some of the greatest old school classics on your PSP. How does this turn out? Read our full review to find out!
Gameplay
So to start off a review for any compilation, I figure the best idea is to let you all know what games are in this compilation:
Side Arms
1941
Legendary Wings
Forgotten World
Black Tiger
Strider
Final Fight
Bionic Commando
Three Wonders
Avengers
Block Block
Captain Commando
Last Duel
Mega Twins
Varth
Magic Sword
Street Fighter
Section Z
Quiz and Dragons
The Speed Rumbler
As you can see there is a good list of games right here, some of which are some of the better games Capcom has brought out over the years. First and foremost, I truly believe that this is one of the best lineups ever brought to a compilation, just because it has so much diversity and so many big names.
The game does have some wireless gaming support if you have some friends who want to relive the classics as well. There are really no major issues I have with this compilation. I would have liked to see some more extras built in and even a few more games. With that being said, the emulation works well and all the games play well on the PSP. I have no real complaints about the game, but at the same time there wasn't anything that this game went out of its way to do right.
Graphics
Visually I have to say that Capcom Classic Collection Remixed just did a good solid job of bringing these games back to life on the PSP. I have to say that the emulation that was done to bring these games to the PSP was pretty impressive. It does a very good job of just keeping all of the games looking like their original form.
Fun Factor
I have to say that usually I am not a huge fan of compilations, mostly because they seem to really give you some hit and miss titles. But in Capcom Classic Collection Remixed you do get a lot more top-notch titles, all of which are extremely well emulated. I have to say that the games in this collection are all a lot of fun and having it on a portable game play like the PSP is just perfect. These games in general were not made for long sittings, which work out perfect for a PSP game.
Overall
In the end, I have to say that although this is not the best compilation I have seen, it is one decent choice. The game offers up plenty of top notch titles that come together to make one good package. If you like compilations and you want to relive some great Capcom games, then I would recommend checking out Capcom Classic Collection Remixed.
