Remember ten to fifteen years ago when the common conception was that the phone would be no use and that we would just talk to each other on video. Well the technology has come a long way but it seems like so many of us don’t want people to see us while we are talking to them, thus the slow progress. However we are getting to a point where the technology is strong enough and the software is coming right along with it. Today we are checking out the Logitech QuickCam Ultra Vision from Logitech a high end web camera that hopes to make a big change in the way you chat online.
- Unsurpassed image quality through 5 precision engineered lens elements.
- A true 1.3 megapixel sensor coupled with RightLight 2 Technology enables you to capture fine details in dim, side- and back-lit situations.
- Express your unique personality by using Logitech Video Effects. Choose the avatar or face accessory that suits your mood.
- Activity light lets you know when you’’re "live."
- Logitech’’s exclusive RightSound technology ensures your voice comes through clear and echo-free.
- Take still pictures with one press
To a design perspective, things don’t get much better then what you get with the Logitech QuickCam Ultra Vision a very stylish and simple design that has both great aesthetics and just an overall stylish look that really is nice. The camera can really latch onto any notebook or LCD display and for the most part doesn’t stand out like a sore thumb. I tested the dark blue version of the camera and it definitely has that “expensive” look with a very glossy paint job and some nice chrome outlines.
The clarity of the Logitech QuickCam Ultra Vision is really unrivaled from any other product I have seen in quite sometime. I had several video conferences with several associates on different messaging programs, but mainly Windows Live Messenger had the greatest results. Watching someone else use this camera was a treat as in some senses you did feel like you were actually there. It sure does take you away from back ten years ago when it looked like one big blur.
The webcam does come with some interesting software that allows you to kind of have fun with your camera. The only problem with this is the actual recognition of the software is poor at best. I tried some extremely well lit and easy to incorporate areas and found that the software never really picked up my face. So using these avatars which are supposed to help if you just woke up and don’t want someone to see you didn’t necessarily do the trick
The Logitech QuickCam Ultra Vision has a really impressive lens that captures some of the highest quality images I have seen from a webcam. The QuickCam Ultra has a real unrivaled quality that I have yet to see matched by any other webcam on the market.
