Darkstation's Game of the Year 2018 - Part 1

It’s that time of year again, where we as a website come together to pick our favorite games of 2018. Unlike previous years we’ve limited ourselves to a dozen categories. Today we’ll be looking at the first half-dozen which includes Best Sports, RPG, Shooter, Action, Strategy, Platformer, and Racing game of the year. So without further ado lets get to the winners!

Mark's Top 5 Games of 2018

Although it didn’t quite hit as many high notes as 2017, this year’s standouts were as awesome as they come. Maybe it was just the luck of the draw, but so many of the smaller/indie games I reviewed this past year were disappointingly derivative. That said, there were quite a few mid-level games from established developers that impressed me.

Ed's Top 5 Games of 2018

It’s been a crazy year, and unlike many, my list contains a large amount of dark horse nominees. As someone who’s budget and time didn’t allow, popular games such as Spiderman, God of War, and Red Dead Redemption 2, didn’t make it on my list. Still, this was a great year for gaming outside the conventional, and hopefully you learn of a game you might not have before.

Jonathan P's Top 5 Games of 2018

With next generation consoles seemingly on the horizon, this year and next may very well be the final years of current generational games. 2018 started off very strong with titles such as Monster Hunter: World, Detroit: Become Human, and God of War, and finished just as strong with Red Dead Redemption 2, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Forza Horizon 4. It’s always hard to make top 5 list because there are so many great games out there, but I’ve finally managed to choose my top 5 games of 2018.

Are we actually at the end of 2018? This has felt like an extremely long year, although I probably don’t have to say that. You’ve lived it, you know. So, here’s my list, because in this year long cycle of outrage and resistance, these are the games that made me happy, each in their own way.

Gregory's Top 5 Games of 2018

As always, these types of lists are pretty subjective and, for me at least, are usually highly influenced by what I actually got to play this year (for example, I'm still in the middle of Dragon Quest 11 and oh man, is that a fun game so far), but still, doing these types of articles is good fun, so let's get into it!

Brandon's Top 5 Games of 2018

This year has seen a lot of really great games that are truly shaping our growing community of gamers around the world. So many games, in fact, that I have not had the chance to play a good number of them. While I had the chance to come up with enough money to afford a fraction of the great releases this year, I spent a lot of my time looking back on the past and reintroducing myself to the world of multiplayer gaming.
