Brutal, dramatic and sometimes romanticized, the stories of outlaws and trigger-happy gunmen braving the frontier and meting out pragmatic justice have been serving as stand-ins for the American dream for well over a hundred years.

Mark's Top 5 Games of 2016

After nearly twelve years of reviewing games, I took a six month hiatus from writing about them. I resold my new Oculus Rift without even opening the box and just gave gaming a little lower priority for a while. I picked a great time to jump back in, though, with most of my "year's best" coming out in this past quarter. The list that follows is really in no particular order; I think they're all great and on any given day, any one of them could rise to the top spot.

The Backlog: Red Dead Redemption's Undead Nightmare

Even though it kind of earned the “Grand Theft Horse” stigma due to the numerous similarities between it and Grand Theft Auto IV, I was drawn deeply into the world of John Marston and his quest to round up his former crew in the name of the Federal government. Rockstar has proven time and again to be wonderful storytellers and Red Dead Redemption is one of many notches on their belt.
