Brandon's Top 5 Games of 2016
As the year comes to an end, I couldn’t possibly have asked for a better way to go out than with a bunch of brand new titles to look forward to in 2017. While it can be fun to look forward to new adventures, it’s also important to appreciate what we have played over the year and pick out those games that we hold in high regard. I did end up playing a hefty bunch of bad games, but lots of fantastic games also came out this year and it is definitely a bit of a challenge to choose a favorite.
Allen's Top 5 Games of 2016
If there was ever a year to use video games as a means of escapism, it was 2016. I don't have to go into detail into what fury the year has wrought, so I'll spend the rest of this paragraph talking about some legitimately surprising games to come out. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the range of titles that were released, surprises (and disappointments) among them. So as 2016 prepares to belch out its last breath of air, let's take some time to reflect on the games that kept me afloat during this wild ride.
Allen's Top 5 Games of the Year
What a year. What a year! In my mind, 2015 was a banner year for playing games on my PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. While most of the big, AAA titles to be released were sequels to existing properties, they were good sequels. And for all the bombastic sequels and explosive franchise finales, I found comfort in smaller and more quieter experiences. The best video games are those that let us escape from the the humdrum of everyday life. To take a breather from things in the world that leave us scared and uncertain. And boy, did I go places. In 2015, I learned to hack computers, took virtual girls on dates, fought side by side with Rebels to fight the Empire (and vice versa), master the art of time travel, and even kill a few zombies. Every game I played left me enriched with memories that I loved sharing with people, even if they made me cry all over again (thanks, Life Is Strange). You did good, 2015. You did good.
Michael's Top 5 Games of 2011
Wow, what a year 2011 has brought us. It seems that every month we were getting high caliber games that could easily make anyone's goty post. Plus we can forget about taking the summer off of gaming with publishers being more aggressive during that season as well as Microsoft's incredible Summer of Live promotion. This was a fun list to make, but I would love to expand this to my top ten, maybe even top twenty games of 2011. Yes, we've had that many great games this year.
