Magic: The Gathering Arena Preview

Unlike newer DCCGs, Magic The Gathering wasn't originally created with digital gaming in mind, so the transition to digital can be tricky to pull off. Arena does a superb job of giving players the in-game tools needed to make the process go as smoothly as possible.

Might & Magic Showdown Preview

I was left impressed with the direction of Might & Magic Showdown. The duel mechanics and programmable Creatures add a layer of tactical pleasure I did not expect, while the ability to customize the pieces through a wide variety of digital paints will give those with an eye for that kind of thing hours of detail oriented excitement. I look forward to seeing where this ends up.

Killing Floor 2 Early Access Preview

Killing Floor 2 allows for up to six players per match. Each map that you play you must fight intense waves of deadly Zed zombies. As you would expect, each wave gets progressively more difficult to clear. Initially, the Zed are relatively weak allowing for you to get familiar with the map and areas you may want to hold up at. The early waves zombies are few in number, less intelligent and slow. This however quickly changes.

Preview: Everquest Next Landmark

Before World of Warcraft there was EverQuest, a fantasy MMO that has survived and thrived since its release in 1993. In fact, 2013 saw the release of the MMO’s twentieth expansion, “Call of the Forsaken.” While EverQuest enjoys its continued existence, plans to develop an “next-gen” version of the game, aptly named EverQuest Next, have been cooking since 2009. The first iteration of this new game is Landmark, an open world sandbox game available to those who buy into its early access. While Landmark is fine on its own as a game, it is a little difficult to accurately pin down where it fits within the scope of EverQuest Next. Is this an early version of the game or nothing more than a companion piece? Time will tell!
