PSX 2017: Anamorphine Preview

Mental health is a mature subject, one that needs to be treated with care if used as a material for a genre typically associated with big explosions, burly men, and questionable armor design. My moment with Anamorphine, a first-person puzzle game developed by Artifact 5, was fascinating because of how it put me in the shoes of Tyler, a man suffering from the effects of post-traumatic stress.

PSX 2017: Kingdom Come: Deliverance Preview

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is shaping up to be a humongous game that promises the moon. Though it seemed daunting, I found myself chomping at the bits to play more because I’m attracted by its granular interaction and the mechanics of a world that exists on its own whether or not you choose to directly participate.

The multiplayer may not be as fast as, say, Modern Warfare or Halo, but there is still a great amount of fun to be had.

Axiom Verge

Only when the game comes out later this year will we truly know, but the game's done a lot to set up something awesome, and still hasn't even revealed all of its mechanics. That glitch wall I ran into (and the others that I ran into later) still remains, there are multiple buttons on the control screen that just read 'unknown', and there's 2 more levels for that encryption/decryption device to get to before the end of the game. If they can build it up more and grow on that glitch aesthetic, while delivering a solid story, Axiom Verge will be a must have.

Preview: Divinity: Original Sin

There is a lot riding on the back of this Kickstarted epic. Many fans of the Divinity series are clamoring for this apparent return to form and even more are begging to test out the strange additions Larian has made to the RPG formula. I can tell you this, while this game may not be for everyone when it comes out, it will certainly have a way to please just about anyone that plays it as the game is more concerned about morphing to your play style than it is making you learn its rule set.

I am now at a point in the game where I am sort of stuck. There is a locked door that I think I have to open to advance the game, but I don’t know how to do it. It might be that I have missed a clue somewhere, or it just might be that the next area isn’t in this build. This is normally the time where I would visit a forum or consult a F.A.Q., but I especially don’t want to do that here. I want to discover as much of this mystery as I can on my own, without anything being spoiled for me. On the other hand, I don’t feel like roaming the countryside again looking for another clue, since it means lots of walking around and fighting more respawning enemies (which I am already kind of bored with). I think that what I will do is put the game aside until it is in its final release state. I am very eager to see what the game is like when it is finished.

Preview – Dragon and Shoemaker

Dragon and Shoemaker is a game with kinks that need to be ironed out. It aims to bring the formula of an endless runner into the world of folklore with a story anyone can enjoy. Playing the smart shoemaker who wishes to take down the evil dragon has promise and the gameplay can become quite addictive. It’s just the few hiccups here and there that need to be fixed before the game feels just right.
