Trials Rising Preview
Trials Rising is shaping up to be a solid entry. It doesn’t do anything crazy like some of its previous titles, but it offers simple fun in its creative track design, appealing customizability, and heated races. The game is essentially an extreme Excitebike, combining puzzle-platforming and stunt racing for a new generation of consoles.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Extended Hands-On Preview
Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is shaping up to be an epic journey, taking the series to 5th century B.C. Greece. I previously wrote about my adventure in a late-game area with a beefed-up character, but I recently attended an event focused on the opening hours of the latest Assassin’s Creed.
Starlink: Battle for Atlas Preview
I had the opportunity to play multiple Ubisoft games at a recent preview event, and the upcoming Starlink: Battle for Atlas was one of my favorite games at the show. Starlink is an open-world space adventure that puts you in command of a combat-ready Starship. There is a toys-to-life component that allows players to mix and match physical figurines of ships and weapons. In an instant, the toy Starships come to life within the game.
For Honor: Marching Fire Preview
For Honor: Marching Fire will be the next content update for Ubisoft’s fighting action game. The expansion will add the PVP mode titled Breach, four warriors of the Wu Lin faction from China, and the newly unveiled PVE mode, Arcade. I recently had the opportunity to try out the new Arcade mode at an Ubisoft event.
Assassin's Creed Odyssey Preview
Ubisoft’s upcoming Assassin’s Creed Odyssey continues the open-world RPG direction from Assassin’s Creed Origins, but this time sets the action in 5th century B.C. ancient Greece. I recently had the opportunity to try a demo at a Ubisoft preview event and came away wanting more.
Rainbow Six Siege: Operation Grim Sky Preview
Ubisoft is releasing two new operators and a reworked map for the team-based shooter Rainbow Six Siege as part of the latest content update Operation Grim Sky. I recently got a chance to try out the new offerings in a handful of 5v5 team matches pitting attackers versus defenders.
E3 2018: Assassin's Creed Odyssey
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey has me excited for more games in this long running franchise. While I liked Bayek enough, Kassandra - for me - is worth the price of admission alone. The writing is great, she kicks ass in combat, and generally looks like she has no problems holding her own. The gameplay is solid and should delight the fans of Origins.
Far Cry 5 Arcade Impressions
In addition to what so far looks to be an engaging open-world campaign in Montana, Far Cry 5 will also sport an arcade mode featuring a level editor and 6-on-6 PVP multiplayer. I was able to test out Far Cry Arcade at the same Ubisoft event where I got to preview the main game. I was not prepared for what I witnessed.
Far-Cry 5 Hands On Preview
Ubisoft’s Far Cry 5 is less than a month away, and I had the opportunity to return to its rural open world at a preview event. For those unacquainted, Far Cry 5 takes place in the fictional Hope County, Montana. Joseph Seed, also known as “The Father,” has taken over the land with his cult, the Project at Eden’s Gate. His siblings John, Jacob, and Faith – the “Heralds” – each control a region. You play as a junior deputy who is tasked with helping the resistance put an end to the cult’s influence.
Far Cry 5 Preview
I had the opportunity to play Ubisoft’s upcoming Far Cry 5 at a preview event. The demo took place after the liberation of Fall’s End (previously seen at E3), so I had free reign to explore the Holland Valley region, a massive landmass covering about a third of the game’s world. Creative director Dan Hay emphasized that in that region alone, there were 10-15 hours of narrative content, not including the roughly 30 additional hours you could spend exploring it.
Steep: Road to the Olympics Preview
I had the opportunity to try out the upcoming expansion to Ubisoft’s Steep, titled Road to the Olympics. This full expansion will add official Winter Olympics events and a career mode to the base game’s open-world skiing and snowboarding gameplay. From the early build, I played, Steep: Road to the Olympics had a satisfying competitive atmosphere while retaining the thrill of speeding downhill.
Watch Dogs 2 Hands-on Preview
Watch Dogs 2 will live or die by is how well the game develops Marcus as a character and the story around him. There are some interesting characters and worlds to explore here and if they’re able to provide that with a compelling narrative, Watch Dogs 2 might be one of the better games of this holiday season.
