Dynasty Warriors 8
That’s Dynasty Warriors 8, a mish-mash of fun, brokenness and low production values that in many ways feels like the video game equivalent of a b-movie. It’s a cheap, tacky, mostly easy game that won’t tax your fingers or your mind. But that’s what I like about it. It’s something to play whilst one is hungover, or watching TED Talks on your laptop. The score in stars I afford it is meaningless, as everyone is bound to have their own, divisive opinions. The faults it possesses are large and, to some, will render it unassailable, but if you share my affinity for the cheap and cheerful, you’ll find a lot to love.
Dynasty Warriors: Gundam
There is so much more that a Gundam game can do that it just feels like things were far too limited in this experience. PS3 owners who are thinking about picking up this game, I would do so with this caveat - only get this if you enjoy the simple button mashing experience. Otherwise you’re going to find yourself wondering what all the fuss is about.
Dynasty Warriors Vol. 2
Once again although there have been some great improvements to this game, it is unfortunate to once again get an experience that still needs work to make it to be a worthwhile purchase. Although fans of the series have probably already gone out and purchased the game, for those who haven’t always loved the series, Dynasty Warriors Vol. 2 isn’t going to help change your mind.
Dynasty Warriors 5: Xtreme Legends
However, if you are a fan of the Dynasty Warriors series and want another quick and inexpensive fix, then DW5: Xtreme Legends may be a game worth checking out. But for everyone else, you are probably better off passing on this game and hoping the DW6 has much more to offer.
Dynasty Warriors 4
When I look at Dynasty Warriors 4 I see a game that is just solid all across the board. It’s definitely not a game that is perfect but it’s a game that takes a winning formula and continues an already impressive series of games. I would recommend Dynasty Warriors 4 for anyone who is looking for a game where you can just spend hours upon hours of senseless killing.
Dynasty Warriors 3: Xtreme Legends
This is no a full sequel, and they’re not advertising it as such. As an add-on, XL score very highly in my books for the refinements made in the gameplay, the addition of an extra difficulty level and great replay value. Fans that can’t get enough of Dynasty Warriors will be hard pressed to find anything more enjoyable than XL. At the very least, it’s something to tide you over until the release Dynasty Warriors 4.
Dynasty Warriors 2
Overall, DW2 is a very fun and exciting game. Just because the first one sucked doesn’t mean its sequal will. In other words, this game is much better than the original Dynasty Warriors. You should buy this if you’re into war samurais or just want a reason to use your PS2. You should not buy this game if your looking for a deep story or strategy, no matter what Koei says.
