Gal Metal Review

Gal Metal is an average rhythm game that definitely falls in the “lost potential” category. With the huge falter that is the main plotline, the most appealing part of the main campaign would be the character interactions. Gameplaywise, Gal Metal is a novel concept that is ultimately limited by the accuracy of the motion control hardware.

AereA Review

It is too bad that what was good about AereA did not ultimately find a better game in which to reside. It is a bad game, but it is one that does not feel like a soulless cash grab. On the other hand, it is also not a game that stumbles because it is overly ambitious or because it banks on one or two game mechanics that just don’t work.

Despite how short the game is, it maybe emphasizes why the other games use this idea to break it up - the concept never really evolves or grows in any way, and with the platforming so basic, there's really not much else here to dig into. It winds up being a rhythm game with disposable musical elements, a platformer with uninteresting mechanics.

Hyperdimension Neptunia PP: Producing Perfection

Hyperdimension Neptunia PP: Producing Perfection is the beginning for a series that will likely see multiple entries on the PlayStation Vita. With a remake of the first game on the way, Producing Perfection gives players an easier entry into the series for newcomers. Although the gameplay is sometimes too light for its own good, the relaxing nature of the experience, and the likable cast of idols makes the experience worth trying to some degree. Producing Perfection is such a unique title however, that most gamers will probably want to pass over this experience to something with a little more substance.

Beat Blasters III

Beat Blasters III boasts 16 levels that range from "decent" to "really good". Outside of upgrades to your blaster, the game introduces no new game mechanics after the tutorial. That it can stay entertaining as long as it does with its three simple powers says volumes about how thoughtfully the game was designed. It probably isn’t fair to classify Beat Blasters III as a “music game”, but rather a quality action game that thrives on music. If this sounds like something that you would like to experience, then you owe it to yourself to give it a try.

Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock

I get the feeling that Activision is using Warriors of Rock more as a stepping stone to bring us to their next big music title. The Guitar Hero franchise has been one of great success over the years and it is a bit disappointing to see Warriors of Rock only manage to be a slight improvement over last years title. Let’s just hope the series will see more exciting days in the future.

Singstar

Sure this isn’t the ultimate upgrade, there are still some areas where I would have liked to have seen more from the game. However in the end if your wondering if its time to upgrade to the Playstation 3 version of Singstar, this first entry is a great start and just show’s all of the great that is to come from Singstar on the PS3 in the future.

Battle of the Bands

This is yet another Nintendo Wii title that had potential to use the Wii capabilities to its fullest but didn’t get anywhere close in terms of execution. As much as Battle of the Bands could have been, it ends up being a game that takes good ideas from other games, adds the very odd weapons, and gives a lackluster performance.

PaRappa The Rapper

The final verdict on Parappa the Rapper for the PSP is that it is still a very good game just far too short and far too basic. It is unfortunate that Sony wasn’t able to do more with this classic game, to take it to the next level. Unfortunately I would say for anyone even interested in this game, renting is your best option it - is the perfect amount of time with this title.

Guitar Hero II

The question is probably being asked, I own the PS2 version of Guitar Hero 2, do I need to upgrade? My answer is simply no, there is not enough content in this game to make it worth a complete new purchase. In the end, Guitar Hero 2 is still a brilliant game and one that needs to be purchased if you do not already own the PS2 version.

Guitar Hero 2

Guitar Hero II continues this amazing legacy that really no other music game has even come close to recreating. With a great peripheral that is the guitar and just a fantastic game to go with it, there is no hesitation to say that if you have any love of music and own a Playstation 2, you really need to go pick this game up right away.

Pump it Up: Exceed

This game is once again going after a specific market in mind and for those that just cannot get enough of this whole music dancing genre, then I would recommend trying Pump It Up: Exceed. It will give you a new taste with the five-button pad, and it does have some really catchy and fun tunes to dance to.

Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat

Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat is just a good game that allows you to really take advantage of your bongos to play a platforming game. However the game lacks depth, and is just too short to be enjoyed. If you really want to hit those bongos, then this game may be a good purchase for you. Otherwise I would say there are better games to spend your money on.

Karaoke Revolution Volume 3

Karaoke Revolution Volume 3 is a great game but is definitely more of an expansion then anything. If you have previous volumes of the game and are wondering if you should upgrade, it all depends on if you like the new tracks or if you really want to be able to sing duets. For those of you who haven’t played this series and love to sing this game is one you should pick up today.

EyeToy: Groove

So is the latest Eye Toy title enough to want you to get your Groove on? Well when it all comes down to it, if you are looking for a party title, to entertain your friends, then you should think about picking this one up. If you already own DDR or don’t yet have an Eye Toy, you can probably pass on this one, it’s probably not worth it.
