Batman Episode 4: Guardian of Gotham Review

Telltale’s creative use of Batlore was on full display with their low key use of his most famous villain, and they created an episode that managed to stand on its own while also leaving a jumping off point for the season finale. Guardian of Gotham delivers on all fronts.

Batman Episode 3: New World Order

The story had some wonderful beats, with a beautiful middle section that blends Batman and Bruce’s problems together nicely, but it ends with a hard cut that practically begs for the next episode to start rather than providing a break in the action. Here’s hoping that Episode 4 handles all the promises the ending of 3 makes while still holding its own.

The Walking Dead: Michonne - Episode 3: What We Deserve

Much like the classic storybook wanderer, The Walking Dead: Michonne ends up just like its titular heroine, a little battered, more then a little bruised, and with a little less closure then she was hoping for. Sure she saved the town. Sure the big bad may be defeated.

The Walking Dead: Michonne - Episode 1: In Too Deep

With improvements coming through graphically, and the story telling showing strong against the quickened pace of a half season, this small package has a lot going for it. Here's hoping that it continues.

Minecraft Story Mode Episode 3: The Last Place You Look

Episode 3 wound up being a lot closer to what I feel is the ideal for an episode in this series – a fun, high-stakes adventure that throws in interesting elements of the license to create cool moments. There's more to Minecraft than just the zombies and spiders that are constantly ambushing you, and the small bits that add to this world so many of us already know are really cool. The story driving it is just getting more and more intense, and with such a cliffhanger, the last episodes of this have a good path laid out for them.

Minecraft Story Mode Episode 2: Assembly Required

Episode 2 is just the bridge to take us to Episode 3, and until I play that it's really hard to give a full review to this one. These games are so serialized that it's only once they come together at the end that you can actually really appreciate them sometimes, and it's definitely the case here. I told myself I'd play through and review these in order, and it'll really be on the last episode that I'll give my views on how the full season went and really know how this one felt in. As of now it feels super rushed despite only being the second episode in the season. Hopefully it's not a harbinger of things to come.

Tales from the Borderlands, Episode Three: Catch A Ride

Three episodes in and I’m already experiencing Tales from the Borderlands fatigue. It doesn’t help that I’ve been hooked with Life Is Strange, another episodic adventure that does well because it breaks away from the gameplay conventions Telltale has been using from the very beginning.

Game of Thrones Episode 4 - Sons of Winter

Gripes aside, this is easily the best episode Telltale has released since the first, and with the quality gradually increasing, I am becoming immeasurably impatient for the final episodes. Especially with where Sons of Winter lets off, I think the next episode is going to prove crucial to whether or not all, or even any, of the actions taken so far will pay off. With that, we have nothing left other then to wait and see. Winter is coming, and things are about to get very, very real.

Game of Thrones - Episode 2 The Lost Lords

That's a pretty great summation for the second episode. It's par for the course. It does nothing as shocking as the end of Episode 1, yet is competent and confident in building the story, prepping the player for surprises to come. If you like Game of Thrones, “The Lost Lords” is solid, and expected given the ebb and flow of the show it follows. If you don't, on top of thanking you for bearing with this so far, I would advise you to watch the show first, and then go back to Episode 1.

Game of Thrones: Episode 1 - Iron from Ice

I don't think I've reviewed another game that drew such a hard line in the sand for me. If you're a fan of Game of Thrones, there is no doubt in my mind that you should pick this up. I cannot wait to see where this goes and how the rest of the story fits into the wider universe HBO adapted from George R. R. Martin's novels. If you are a non-fan, there is certainly enough here to make a compelling argument for why you should be one, but I fail to see why you would even care to start. Seeing as I clearly fall into the first camp, I'll spend my days anxiously waiting for the next episode, and hope that you, person with your head in the sand who hates fun, decide to come along for the ride.

The Walking Dead: Season Two Episode 1 - All That Remains

As part of a whole season, “All That Remains” establishes a foundation that could lead to some interesting places over the course of the next four episodes. What it does not do is inspire unwavering confidence that season two will live up to the first.

Poker Night 2

If you like poker and just want to fold some 2’s and 7’s there are definitely better games for you out there already. But if you’re a fan of Telltale’s witty, concise writing and want something relaxing to kill a night with, this small but stout collection of one-liners has just enough game round it to justify parting with a couple of dollars.

The Walking Dead Episode 2: Starved for Help

Each episode so far has had its good parts and bad parts- but each time, it’s something different. It’s been inconsistent, and I don’t think it can keep my interest if it doesn’t settle down and find a groove for itself.
