A Way Out Review

In an industry that’s often criticized for “playing things safe,” A Way Out is anything but: a story-driven cooperative game where you’re required to play the entire game in split screen with another person the whole time. To make a game like that takes a level of vision, sophistication, and outright brazenness that many in the industry just wouldn’t normally set out to do. The question now is, was it a risk worth taking?

Tesla vs Lovecraft Review

Nikola Tesla (1856-1943) was a Serbian-American inventor, engineer and futurist, contributing to alternating current electricity supply system. H. P. Lovecraft (1890-1937) was an American author, known for his influential horror fiction. Both Tesla and Lovecraft were disgraced in their lifetime but later generations would recognize their achievements.

Time Recoil Review

The Finnish developers behind the well-received Neon Chrome come back with another top-down twin stick shooter. At a quick glance, you'd be forgiven to mistake Time Recoil for some Neon Chrome DLC, but it turns out the game has an identity of its own. Time Recoil isn’t as much a blast fest as it is a thinking man’s shooter. At times, it could almost pass for a game of chess - deadly chess with bullets, explosions and time-warping super powers.

NBA Playgrounds

NBA Playgrounds does a solid job of filling the void left by the NBA Street and NBA Jam series. There is a deep roster of players, and the game's cartoonish visuals look great, but the bare-bones online play and frustrating gameplay mechanics sometimes make the game feel more like a chore rather than an enjoyable experience.

Riptide GP: Renegade Review

Simply put Riptide GP: Renegade is the best arcade-style racer I've played in quite a while. For a measly tenner, it should be a no-brainer to jump on the waves.

8DAYS Review

here's only one question you should ask yourself: do you give up easily in games? If your answer is yes, steer clear of 8DAYS. But if you have a masochist bone somewhere in your body, then enroll in G.O.D by all means and face the challenge. There's nothing quite like that sweet feeling when you overcome the dangers the game throws at you, especially when you have a co-op partner to share joys and hardships with.

Ginger: Beyond the Crystal Review

All the problems bugging Ginger: Beyond the Crystal could be fixed with some serious patching. I really hope the developers rise up to the challenge as there's clearly a fun and chirpy game bubbling under, something a whole family can enjoy together.

Toy Odyssey: The Lost and Found

I tried my best to like Toy Odyssey more than I did as there's much to love about it. The idea and the execution are mostly fine but unfortunately some game design decisions made playing the game more laborious than entertaining. Toy Odyssey deserves to be more fun and exciting. Dull routines should be for parents, not for brave toy soldiers!

Professional Farmer 2017

Professional Farmer 2017 has all the energy of a pig waddling in the mud. It makes no attempt to capitalize on what makes this profession interesting beyond its tedious workload. It’s not a very pretty game and under normal circumstances, I can forgive poor graphics as long as the game is fun to play. The whole affair is half-baked and suffers a severe lack of heart and soul. Stay far away from this $40 cow pie.

Oceanhorn: Monster of the Uncharted Seas

Oceanhorn: Monster of the Uncharted Seas is a fun enough action adventure despite not having an original bone in its body.

Anarcute

The game gets more and more repetitive as you reach later stages so its best enjoyed in small doses. Regardless, Anarcute is a fun, well built game to play. It has the right amount of challenge, the music's great, and the rioters are just so damn adorable.

Superhot

Superhot's time manipulation is a fun mechanic that allows you to play a first person shooter in a way you couldn't elsewhere. Despite a few shortcomings, the game does a superb job of mixing the first person shooter genre and puzzle games into entertaining experience.

Fortified

Fortified is certainly an enjoyable game to play. The lack of variety and somewhat cliche story isn't necessarily going to grab you, but the lighthearted tone of the game coupled with its entertaining wave-based combat makes for an pretty solid title.

Knight Squad

Knight Squad isn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination but the diverse set of game modes, simplistic controls, and frenzied gameplay makes this an enjoyable game to play especially with friends.

Castle Crashers Remastered

Castle Crashers Remastered still manages to keep the charm that made the game so special 7 years ago. The game still falls victim to some of the same flaws, but is so enjoyable to play that those smaller shortcomings are easily overlooked. Whether you're coming back to the game for a second time or you're a new player, this is a game that has something to offer for everyone.
