DUSK Review

For an old nostalgic soul like myself, Dusk is great. It’s simple, elegant, and succeeds exactly in what it sets out to do. Gamers who grew up in the HD era with an entirely different set of mechanics and gaming conventions will likely find it archaic, perhaps excruciatingly so. However, for those yearning for their glory days, or those who want to see what gaming used to be like in the early 1990’s, Dusk is certainly for you.

The Alliance Alive Review

Playing The Alliance Alive is a lot like getting into a time machine and returning to 1997, as it feels a lot like an RPG from that era. For those younger than myself, I'm specifically referring to an era where JRPGs such as Final Fantasy 7, The Legend of Dragoon and Xenogears reigned supreme. If the graphics of The Alliance Alive were downgraded to polygons and shaders, then it would fit right in there. However, it also falls prey to many of the faults the games of the era had as well.

Romancing Saga 2 Review

Romancing SaGa 2 is a very open-ended, so whether or not you're into that kind of freedom will likely make or break the game for you. What it lacks in the focused story, it definitely makes it up in re-playability and choices.

Skylar and Plux: Adventure on Clover Island Review

The game may be guilty of relying on that sense too much, forcing you to look the other way at everything that it is missing or does wrong.  Gamers who require more robust gameplay mechanics or more collectibles may find themselves underwhelmed by Skylar and Plux.  They should still be able to appreciate the effort though, if not the result.

Ducktales: Remastered

That's the gist of it really. Ducktales Remastered looks great and sounds great, but at the end of the day, it's tired and repetitive. Does it color my perception of the older classic? Not in the least. But it will make me wary in the future, when a developer trudges out an old memory in new clothing, whispering the sweet siren's call in my ear, telling me it will all feel the same. It might, sure, but it rarely ever does.
